First Steps...

If you are interested in making an appointment or learning more about what I offer, the first step is to contact me.

I will be happy to discuss the services I provide, learn what you hope to achieve in therapy, and answer any questions you have. If you are interested in treatment, the next step is scheduling an initial intake/consultation appointment.

Why is there an initial intake appointment?

I begin with a new client by completing an initial intake for two reasons:

So that I can learn about your situation in detail and offer treatment recommendations.
For you to decide if you agree with my proposed treatment plan, and if you would like to work together.

What is therapy like?

Therapy is a collaborative process. I will ask you to join me in developing fluid goals and monitoring our progress. After learning about your history in detail, I will develop a treatment plan and will guide you with understanding toward your desired outcomes. Remember that therapy is highly individualized and you are an essential member of this process. To ensure the best results and to build a good therapeutic relationship, I believe that therapeutic change requires an active, honest and trusting client-therapist relationship.

What is each session like?

I meet with clients on weekly basis. Sessions often begin with a review of how therapy is progressing, checking on your progress outside of session, and then collaboratively moving forward. In working together, I will draw on a wide array of utilized techniques that are based on the needs and desired outcome for the client.

What can you achieve with therapy?

  • Understanding the relationships between your difficulties and what maintains them.

  • Identifying and changing behaviors that are contributing to the problem.

  • Learning to recognize when past experience is driving your behavior, and shifting to a more effective response for your current situation.
